ARIA Monitoring in Alzheimer's Program
- 85 sites
- Brain MRI safety monitoring
- ARIA-E and ARIA-H detection
Challenge
An anti-amyloid therapy program required vigilant MRI safety monitoring for amyloid-related imaging abnormalities, where missed or delayed detection of ARIA-E edema or ARIA-H microhemorrhage carries direct patient safety consequences. With 85 sites submitting surveillance MRIs on aggressive schedules, the sponsor needed central reads returned rapidly enough to inform dosing decisions, and readers calibrated to detect subtle early findings consistently across thousands of examinations.
Our Solution
Intrinsic Imaging deployed a dedicated panel of neuroradiologists trained on a standardized ARIA grading charter, with every surveillance MRI read centrally within 72 hours of receipt and urgent findings escalated to the sponsor's safety team immediately upon identification. Acquisition protocols were harmonized across sites to guarantee the fluid-sensitive and gradient-echo sequences ARIA detection requires, and automated quality control verified sequence completeness before each examination entered the reading queue. Reader calibration sessions and periodic concordance testing sustained uniform sensitivity throughout the program.
Results
- 14,000+ surveillance MRIs read centrally
- Median read turnaround of 41 hours
- Every urgent ARIA finding escalated same-day
